About Me
Shannon Horn Truss is a Spiritual Director trained by Dovehouse Ministries. Shannon grew up on the Alabama Gulf Coast, where there was salt in the air and red clay doubled as soil. She fell in love with art history on a high school trip to Spain, which prompted her to get a BA in Fine Arts from Vanderbilt University.
Shannon began her own spiritual direction journey in 2010 and has been in individual or group direction ever since. Her direction is Ignatian in nature, which quite simply means she looks for God in All Things and encourages others to do the same.
During her first few years of receiving spiritual direction, Shannon would turn off her radio as she drove to monthly direction and ask herself, “Where have I seen God this month?” Now it is her great joy to hear others answer this very question. She believes once you begin to look for God, you will find not only God, but yourself.
Shannon has been married to Jason Truss for twenty-six years and is mother to Anna, Bekah, Kate and Wenchi. She is often joined for her direction sessions by her three pound maltipoo, Luna. She lives and practices in Nashville, Tennessee.
What Do Others Say?
I connected with Shannon after attending a silent retreat where she was my spiritual director. After the retreat, I was looking for a way to continue deepening my relationship with God with greater prioritization and intentionality. My spiritual direction sessions with Shannon have provided a consistent place to unpack all that God is working in my heart and to glean from her wisdom as we journey with God together.
— Retreatant and Individual Directee
Shannon has been my spiritual director for almost a year now. It has changed my life. Having an intentional hour where we simply look for Jesus in our present life has been so impactful. Refreshing. Centering. I’m beyond grateful for her gift of spiritual direction in my life.
— Individual Directee
In a season where sitting and studying the Bible felt stale and I was needing to meet God in a fresh way, spiritual direction has been so life giving. I have learned how to be still and silent while with other people, leaning into Jesus together. I have had a glimpse of entering a gospel scene with Jesus, and experiencing both the story and Jesus in new and different and such deeply satisfying ways. I always leave feeling less alone, and knowing that I am deeply loved by Jesus. I feel so thankful for this practice and know it will always be a part of my spiritual life in some way.
